Engr. Lt Gen Sajjad Ghani (Retd), Chairman of WAPDA, reviewed the construction progress of the Greater Karachi Bulk Water Supply Scheme (K-IV) during a site visit. Key components inspected included intake works, pumping stations, and pressurized pipelines.
Highlighting the K-IV Project’s vital role in addressing Karachi’s escalating water demand, the Chairman stressed the urgency of expediting construction and meeting project deadlines. He called for enhanced coordination among stakeholders, particularly with the Sindh Government, to ensure the timely execution of power supply and augmentation components critical for the project’s success.
The General Manager/Project Director briefed the Chairman on progress milestones, timelines for remaining tasks, and strategies to achieve targets. Discussions also covered financial progress and the necessary funding to meet the schedule. With cumulative progress at 52.65%, Phase I of the K-IV Project is on track for completion by June 2026, contingent on timely fund releases.
